I started my professional career in the theatre, initially as a performer and subsequently as a promoter and producer. I have been practising yoga for twenty years. I trained with Chloë Fremantle and Anne-Marie Zulkahari on the London YTTC two year, British Wheel of Yoga accredited teacher training.
Since qualifying in 2008 I have been teaching full time in East London where I live, and also running occasional classes in Deal, on the Kent coast. -
My teaching is rooted in the tradition of Vanda Scaravelli which is centred around the relationship between gravity, breath and the spine. This tradition adapts the yoga asanas, or postures, to each individual physique in a grounded and hands-on exploration of the body’s natural movement patterns, working with gravity and the breath to release tension, free the spine and experience greater flexibility, strength and balance.
Yoga can teach us how to inhabit the body more intelligently, to develop greater awareness of our self and others through being both stable and yet adaptable. Practice becomes a personal inquiry, thus releasing our potential for integration and individual creativity both through the cultivation of movement and paradoxically, the ability to be still.
